Trialsworx update

Still trying to work out blogger bugs.....

Looks like Hiroshi will be coming out for Trialsworx! It will be nice to show him the quality of riders and the number of kids we have competing. I would like to show him the CPTA area but we may be up in Whistler during his entire stay. We will be talking about the possibility of have a "World Round" here. Whistler is probably better for logistics, accomodations, exposure to crowds etc but the CPTA area would be better for quality and variety of sections.

There has been some talk of Kenny Belaey and Rafal Kumoroski wanting to come to Whistler too! If so we may have to bump up the difficulty a touch more.....although I don't think we are that far away anyway!

Lets see if this posts up....

CPTA 1

Well the first competition went off without a hitch under nice sunny skies! We had 33 riders plus a few more who didn't compete but were there for "moral support"? Lots of new kids including 6 year old Felix Pratt who ended up 2nd in Poussin! Poussin veteran Danielito Chernetski (7) was the winner with Chase Fraser in 3rd on a bmx bike yet!. In Novice, Alex Walton won and I am sure was wishing he would have ridden Sport but it was his first comp in a few years. Chantal Laurie beat her sister Kayla out in the Femina class.

In Sport Jesse Ellingson won with 6 points and John Goodwin right on his butt with 7. Mitchell Long rode very well and ended up with 14 pts as a 10 year old in Sport! Kevin Minato's first competition was a real eye opener. He has only been riding for 5 months but has huge skills already. I am sure his competition learning curve will be huge so the 3 podium guys will have to really watch out next comp!
In Expert Jason Baia hopped on his new 231 Kamel for basically the first time and rode fantastic ending with only 10 points for the win. Ian Johansen also got himself a podium with a very good 2nd place finish with Dave Lloyd rounding out the podium.

In Pro Dave Herr and Jeff Anderson tied for first with Jeff taking the win based on cleans. Steve Baia rode very well on his 221 Kamel for 3rd. Jeff is leaving tomorrow and will be off to Italy for a UCI competition in June.
The sections weren't incredibly difficult, with lots of steep rolldowns and as always slippery roots. Lots of spectators and Kylie and the Goodwins fed everyone some great food! Peter and Jon brought up a first timer (Micael) from the good old U.S of A.
Thanks to Felix and Aaron for setting and checking, Jeff for setting and checking, Kye for checking, the Goodwins, Longs, Lauries and Minatos for helping, Norco, The Trialsin Shop and Monty for prizing. Also thanks to Monty, Kumar, Indy, Maui, Montana and Johnson for helping take down the sections. It is much easier taking down sections with dogs than setting them up with dogs!
Results are here....

Woohoo

Well it looks like blogger is back up and running...hopefully!

So much stuff has happened since it went down I don't know where to start!

The 2 clinics went great...lots of young kids, many who will be out for CPTA 1.

We finally got in the 231 Kamel and a real cool 205. They all have matching paint jobs too.

Last weekend we were down at John Henry Days and Jay Hoots had a little dual stunt course going...the kids all had a riot! Steve had the best crash of the day....Mark Teasdale took some pics of the day and if you check out the sequence in the middle you can see the big crash...

Here are the pics...

This weekend we are up in Whistler for shows at 11, 1, 3 and 5 on Saturday and Sunday in Mountain Square. It is the opening of the bike park. The weather is supposed to be spectacular!

Friday the 23rd we are doing a show at Porter Creek Elementary and the 24th is CPTA #1!!!

Congratulations to Jeff Anderson who ended up 4th in Shanghai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!

Clinic info

Here is a link for some information on the clinics....

Also there was a great article on Jeff Anderson in the Vancouver Sun today! There was even a pic of Ot Pi!

Test

Trialsworx page up very soon!

The Trialsworx web page will be up very soon. A few details to iron out first. Ally is doing an awesome job!!!!!

Reminder.....the clinics are set for April 27 and May 3. They are also SOCIALS so everyone is invited out. Food and drink provided....a good chance to get the rust off the bikes before the first comp!

Had a little bbq for Jeff on Saturday. He is leaving on the 26th for Shanghai!!! I told him he couldn't go to China as we have the clinics but he is going anyway.......Pete and Jon from Seattle were up as well as locals John Goodwin, Mitchell, Chantal and Kevin. Had a nice ride on the rocks for a bit then up to the CPTA area for more fun. Jon is trying to organize a competition in Tacoma sometime in June.....ROAD TRIP!!!!......more details to follow!

Jeff farewell!

I know its late notice but on Saturday we are having a little farewll party for Jeff at our house. We are meeting here at 3:00, then going to a boulder field near here for some riding, then back here for a bbq. Anyone who reads this is welcome as I am sure you are a biketrials fan. Just let me know if you are coming so I can plan for food......

Mike

Jeff is off to Shanghai!!!!

So its official, Jeff Anderson is off to Shanghai at the end of the month! He will be up against some of the top riders in the world including Dani Comas. Turns out being Canadian Champ does get you some perks! More info soon.

Here is the latest rider entries... The official grand opening of Secret Cycles was this weekend. The weather kind of held out. We brought out a small set-up and were able to entertain the capacity crowds. It was the first real rides on the new Kamel. Steve had it singing pretty quick. He wasn't the only one who got a new bike as I finally got a new ride too. A sweet dually that I hope to make sing as well!

Secret Cycles Grand Opening!

On Saturday, Secret Cycles in Coquitlam will be having their official grand opening. We will be there doing a few demos for some entertainment. It is an awesome shop with Scott Taylor running the shop and superwrench Nigel Page handling the mechanical end. Scott really knows his stuff and will fit you to the perfect bike to suit your needs and if perchance anything were ever to go wrong Nigel is there to fix it. I still have yet to tweak any wheels he has built for us! Nigel also has a good understanding of the finicky Trials bikes too.

Lots of great deals over the weekend.....click on the logo above for more information....

Finally!!!!

Well we finally got a Kamel in. It sure looks cool! The boys haven't tried it out too much yet. Took it up to the CPTA grounds for a bit and let John, Chantelle, Jeff A and a few others try it out.

Working with Hiroshi to possibly get Jeff to China in may for the World Master Biketrial Competition. Hiroshi asked who the best in Canada was and obviously it is the Canadian Champion Jeff!!!! It is a bit of a longshot but hopefully it will happen.

Here is Steve on the Kamel.....we are hoping for the 231 to come in soon as well.

Cool spot!

Found a cool spot near our house. They are building roads and houses nearby so they have left this huge pile of boulders just for us to play on! There are a couple of pics on the photo page. Here is a shot of Steve trying to outrun the "bear" as we were leaving.

Happy Easter

This isn't a bike related picture but our nieces are out for Easter and I thought I would immortalize them on our site.....I told them millions of people would see this! This is from a trail at Buntzen...Monty got a $45 fine because he got caught going the wrong way on this trail. He then bit the park ranger.....

As for bike stuff.....Dave Herr, Russ Phillips and Aaron Dobler are off to Europe for Koxx days as well as a Spanish UCI and BIU comp. Its always such a great experience riding in Europe. I hope the Euro riders who come for Whistler (hopefully) feel the same way!

The 2nd clinic day got changed from May 10 to May 3rd as Jason is going to Costa Rica on the 9th and he wasn't going to get out of it that easy!!!!!!! Sounds like lots of kids are coming. It is also a social for everyone so come out and ride, play, help with the kids, eat.......

Clinics Upcoming!

The first competition is slowly working it's way here. We are also offering 2 free clinics to learn about Biketrials and riding in general. Check the CPTA page for the dates. Remember the clinics are free! Free food and lots of top pro's on hand to help out. Remember an actual "trials bike" is not needed but your bike should be in good shape and be able to handle trail situations. Anyone signing up for one of the free clinics will also be allowed to ride the first competition free as well!!!!

A new bike shop in Coquitlam..."Secret Cycles" which is located on Lougheed behind Anducci's has the finest mechanic in Canada working there! Nigel Page has been doing some incredible work for many years and is highly recommended! It would be a good time to bring your bike in to get it looked at before the year begins.

Watch soon for a "rider buddy" page which will hook up riders from different areas.

Here we goooooooooooooooooooooo

PushBike

Well the new bikes are starting to roll in. Just got this real cool Monty 202 PushBike. The idea of these is to totally eliminate the need for training wheels. Kids would go straight from this bike to a regular bike without ever having to use training wheels. It is completely overbuilt and would last thru about 10 kids I am sure. It retails for $399 new. We will probably use it during the shows to let kids try it out and possibly sell it "semi used" if someone would like it that way for a little cheaper. We are also getting a 205 which would be the next step up. We are STILL waiting on the new Kamels.
Just starting to get the ball rolling on the new season. We will start with a couple of free Biketrials clinics before the first competition. Check the CPTA link for the dates. The clinics are a great time for someone to come up and try it out. Kids any age are welcome. I am thinking of having a deal where if a young rider comes to the clinic they can try out the first competition for free!
Whistler prep is coming along. We are going to get some of the logs moved around in Rebagliati Park to make things a little different in there....as well as having one of the Fitzsimmons Creek sections a "speed" section. Working on having one of the sections at the base of the mountain in front of thousands of people too! Possible even a dual trials section/competition. It looks like JJ Gegorovich from the States is back riding....maybe we can entice him out to try his luck against our local boys!

Happy Trials!

Perry's Prospects Show

We had our first show of the year yesterday for CTV and Perry's Prospects Super Camp. It was at the dome which was handy as it was raining heavily all day! There were 300 kids invited and they would go thru 6 different sports areas to try them out. We were the lunchtime entertainment. Before the show we met the Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan.....Jason happened to mention how nice it was to have all those nice things to ride on downtown.....
There are a few more pics on the picture page too....
It was also a good chance to show our new sponsors what we do. We have hooked up with 2 companies and it looks like we will all benefit from each other. As you can see in the picture the one company is "The Folding Bench" which makes this incredible covered folding chair....perfect for our weather in Vancouver. They have 1-4 seaters and we will have quite a few for draws and giveaways for people to try at the competitions. We had a bunch of them set up at the dome and had many of the other sports people come up to check them out. The BC distributor Thomas and Amy Lee were there with their kids. It was the first time they had ever seen a Biketrials show and they absolutely loved it!
The other company is "Naturally Splendid" which makes natural energy bars and other natural food related products. One of the partners, Brian Carson (along with Craig Goodwin) brought along a professional video camera, so Sean was using it during the show. More info to come and when their website is up I will post it!
With both the companies generous offers we should really be able to take Biketrials to the next level this year. Whistler will be huge.....Thomas Ohler will probably be there as well as a the return of last years Expert winner Jeff Lenosky! If we can get Masashi and John Webster out, as well as last years Elite winner Jeff Anderson and all the other amazing local pros, the Elite Category should be VERY competitive.
